
Richardson residents looking for something fun to do this January should head down to UT Dallas where jazz great Jim Riggs and the Official Texas Jazz Orchestra will be kicking off their spring season. For one night only, the Texas Jazz Orchestra will be performing at the Alexander Clark Center on Jan. 23, 2015.
Riggs is a world-renowned saxophonist and founder of the Official Texas Jazz Orchestra. He is a former professor at University of North Texas and has conducted many jazz bands across the U.S. Many of the musicians in the Orchestra have performed with jazz greats, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and Buddy Rich. Riggs himself has performed with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Nelson Riddle.
Attendees will hear their favorite jazz pieces, as well as some new treats that are sure to become fast favorites. The OTJO has performed all over Texas in an effort to bring the beauty of jazz to our state and is steadily becoming a Texas mainstay.
