Chrysler’s parent company – FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) – has just announced a huge initiative that will give free college tuition to nearly 700,000 of its dealership employees and their family members.

FCA is partnering with Stayer University for this new program, which they are calling Degrees@Work. According to the automaker, a big reason for the initiative is to attract even more people to the auto industry and its many benefits.

“Our dealers said giving workers more access to education is the top issue for them,” Fiat Chrysler’s head of dealer development, Al Gardner, Gardner said. “It’s not just about keeping the people we have or attracting people from Ford or Nissan dealerships, it’s also about attracting new people into the business.”

FCA isn’t just stopping at a basic bachelor’s degree either, the automaker will also help employees who want to continue their education even further by attaining a master’s degree. The company began testing the program this May and has seen some great results so far with many dealerships saying it has built even more loyalty and morale among dealer employees.

Among the curriculum that employees can study will be courses directly related to the auto industry, such as consumer behavior, marketing and information technology; all areas of study that will help Chrysler dealers around the U.S. better serve their customers each and every day.
