The Crow Collection of Asian Art is hosting its annual Chinese New Year Festival this January! The FREE all-day affair offers an immersive experience, with lots of entertainment, authentic Chinese food and vendors selling unique products.
Numerous performances are scheduled, from Kung Fu and break dancing demonstrations to Beijing Opera renditions and other musical acts. Additionally, face changers and dragon dances offer an explosion of color and energy.
When you’re not watching high-action performances, there are plenty of activities that provide an interactive experience as well, such as Kung Fu classes, face painting and fortune-telling. And, when you work up an appetite, there will be lots of genuine Chinese food available for purchase.
The grand finale of the event is a large fireworks show that’ll light up the Dallas Arts District and provide a big bang to kick off the start of the Chinese New Year.
Event Date & Hours
How is the Chinese New Year date determined?
This year, the Chinese New Year’s celebration falls on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017. The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Chinese New Year is based off of the Chinese lunar calendar, which is why the date changes every year. Typically, the holiday is celebrated on the day of the second new moon that falls between the December solstice and March equinox.
