Jeep may soon have a new option for truck fans, one that offers the brand’s signature rugged looks and capability. Automotive News claims that in a recent interview with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO, Sergio Marchionne, it was stated that a Wrangler-based pickup would be added to the Jeep lineup.
Other details have also been recently announced regarding plans to change some things around at the company’s Toledo, Ohio, production facility and many sources believe that it could be to make way for the new Jeep pickup. Cherokee production will be moved out of the plant and its facility is going to be revamped to accommodate increased Wrangler production. Of course, that increased production will involve the redesigned 2018 Wrangler, as Automotive News says the goal would be to continue production of current Wrangler models while retooling for the all-new version of the SUV.

When Jeep introduced its 2005 Gladiator Concept, pictured to the right, it got the attention of Jeep fans everywhere, so it’s not surprising that the automaker has been in talks about developing a pickup ever since. Automotive News received no other details about the Wrangler-based pickup, except that it will likely debut in 2017 or 2018.
