Load up your coolers, gas grills and collapsible chairs – then get ready to sing, “Take me out to the ballgame!”
It’s baseball season and that means one thing: tailgating. If you’re not an experienced tailgater, or have never tailgated at the Texas Rangers’ stadium, here are some key things you need to know about what’s permitted and what’s prohibited.
- You can only tailgate in grassy areas, not in parking spots.
- Do not take up more than a 9x12 foot area for one tailgate party.
- You may not save a tailgate area or parking space for that friend of yours who always runs late; instead, follow each other in separate vehicles if you need to in order to make sure you arrive at the same time.
- You may continue to tailgate for a max of 2 hours after the final out; following this, security clears the parking lot.
- There are designated coal containers at various areas around the lot, so respect the park grounds and do not dispose of your coals anywhere outside of these containers.
- Don’t bother bringing your drone along, unless you want to risk having it confiscated. Leave the fireworks at home, too.
- If you plan on cooking, only gas and charcoal grills are allowed at the park; no open flames, oil-based cooking or deep frying are allowed.
- Keep your sound system at a minimal level or you could be reprimanded by park staff.
- Outside sales of any kind are prohibited; you may not sell food, drinks, merch or anything else for your side business.
Private tailgating spaces are available at the Texas Rangers’ stadium if you desire to have a bit more separation from other tailgaters; however, those spots must be purchased in advance.
