The Christmas season is kicking off in Richardson, Texas, with the city’s cherished annual Christmas Parade. It’s the 44th year that the event has taken place and once again it promises colorful floats, lots of twinkling lights and fun performances.
The event celebrates those who have given the most to serve our community, and this year, has invited our local first responders to be the parade’s Grand Marshals. If you want to honor our local heroes and get in the Christmas spirit with your community, go out to cheer on the “Magical, Musical Christmas Parade” on Saturday, Dec. 3. It begins at 9 a.m. in Richardson Square (corner of Belt Line and Plano Roads), then travels to Apollo Road.
If you would like to participate in the parade, you can still register. The deadline is Nov. 27th, which is just around the corner. In addition, you can sign up to be a Friend of the Parade and take part in a special Friends’ recognition event on the Friday night before the procession. Friends also receive parking passes and VIP seating at the parade.
In the evening, just following the Parade Award Ceremony at 5 p.m., the City of Richardson’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony takes place. In addition, Santa’s Village opens up for the first night. The Village features 16 holiday dwellings, and offers performances and other fun happenings throughout the Christmas season.
We hope you’ll carve out some time to join your community in celebrating the holiday this year and hope to see you at the events!
