Taking the Doors Off My Jeep

At Richardson Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, we carry a number of Jeep models that provide you with the option of removing your doors for a more open-air driving experience. We love this feature, and we're happy to provide you with directions on how to remove your doors. When you buy a vehicle at our dealership, we'll show you all of the different features that are part of what you've selected. We understand that you may forget the process, so here's a quick reminder of what to do if you want to take your doors off.

Jeep Door Removal Instructions

It isn't a requirement to remove your doors, but we recommend that you roll your windows down before starting the removal process. This eliminates the risk of breaking or damaging one of your windows during removal or storage.

You will need to remove the footwell cover for access to the area where your doors are connected underneath your dashboard.

Remove the door straps from the hooks they are on.

Remove the hinge bolt from each door by sliding the door away from the body of your vehicle. Go slowly with this process to prevent damage to your doors.

Choose a safe location for storing your doors to protect them until you want to put them back on.

Prior to replacing your doors, lubricate the hinges. This makes it easier to get your doors off and on each time you want to do so.

Give us a call here at Richardson Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram if you're having issues removing your doors. You can also stop by our Richardson location if you would like someone in our service department to give you a hand.
