What's New for the 2018 Dodge Charger?

For the 2018 model year, Dodge has introduced several new features for the Charger. New for 2018 is the Charger GT AWD trim, standard backup camera and rear parking assist, an upgraded UConnect infotainment system, and a number of new styling and performance additions.

Sporty Trims & Tech Features

The 2018 Dodge Charger changes things up a bit with new models and features. The lineup for 2018 includes the base SXT, the new GT AWD, R/T, Daytona, R/T Scat Pack, Daytona 392, SRT 392, and the powerful Hellcat. All models now come with at least a 7 inch UConnect touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility which can be upgraded to the larger 8.4 inch system as well. The GT AWD model comes standard with the 3.6 liter Pentastar V6, the 8.4 inch UConnect system, 19 inch wheels and advanced all-wheel drive. The Dodge Charger R/T features the 5.7 liter Hemi V8, an 8.4 inch UConnect touchscreen and an electronically controlled active exhaust system. The Charger Daytona takes the features of the R/T and adds a performance suspension, Dodge performance parts, active performance exhaust and aggressive styling. The Charger Daytona 392 adds the 6.4 liter Hemi engine to the mix. For the R/T Scat Pack Dodge upgrades the engine to the 6.4 liter Hemi SRT V8 and adds Brembo four piston high performance brakes. The SRT 392 features the same 6.4 liter Hemi found in the Scat Pack and Daytona 392 but it also adds SRT drive modes, Brembo six piston brakes (compared to the four piston brakes on the Scat Pack) and an SRT tuned Bilstein adaptive dampening system.

Engine Performance

None of the 2018 Dodge Charger models are short on power. The 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 found in the SXT and GT AWD models comes in with sporty 306 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque. The R/T and Daytona's 5.7 HEMI V8 steps things up even further with serious V8 power. The 5.7 makes 370 horsepower and 395 ft-lb of torque. The 6.4 liter HEMI V8 found in the 392 models (Daytona 392, Scat Pack, and SRT 392) will really haul with 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. The Hellcat includes supercar levels of power clocking in with 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.

Safety Comes Standard

2018 Dodge Charger RearThe 2018 Charger comes equipped with a plethora of safety features and options to protect all of its occupants. All 2018 Chargers come standard with a backup camera and parking assist. There are also an array of active safety features for the charger including blind spot monitoring, collision warning, cross traffic alert, lane assist and adaptive cruise control. The NHTSA has given the 2018 five out of five stars for safety.
