Few changes have been made for 2017, aside from a slimmed down selection of trims and modernized features. 2017 RAM 1500 reviews note that this vehicle is the complete package of performance, style and comfort.

Read our review to find out information about the 2017 RAM 1500 and all it has to offer.

Capable Trims and Modern Features

The 2017 RAM 1500 near Dallas is available in several body styles and ten trims. The three body styles are the two-door regular cab, the four-door Quad Cab and the four-door Crew Cab. At the base level is the Tradesman, which comes standard with a Class IV receiver hitch, vinyl upholstery, USB and AUX ports and a six-speaker audio system. The Express is like the Tradesman but alters the exterior look, the lights, tires and floor mats.

Up next is the HFE (high fuel economy). It adds automatic engine start-stop, black bumpers and a black grille to the standard features. The SLT alters the exterior with a chrome trim, and adds a 5-inch touchscreen display, satellite radio and Bluetooth connectivity inside the cabin.

Standard features on the Big Horn/Lone Star include upgraded upholstery, remote start, an upgraded display screen, a rearview camera and smartphone integration. The Sport upgrades the engine, alters the exterior, and upgrades the light. The display screen is once again upgraded and an extra USB is added.

The Laramie has the features of the Sport along with leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, driver memory settings and a 10-speaker sound system. In the Laramie Longhorn, there is keyless entry/ignition, remote start, navigation system and upgraded upholstery.

The Limited has alternative exterior styling and upgraded upholstery. Finally, the Rebel is the off-road focused trim of the 1500. It has similar features to the Sport and also has improved suspension and all-terrain tires.

There are also several feature packages and standalone options that can be added to each trim.

Incredible Power and Performance

The standard engine on the RAM 1500 is a 3.6-L V6 engine that produces 3054 hp and 269 lb.-ft. of torque. However, there are several other engine options. With all of the engine options, the only available transmission is an eight-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is also standard, but there are trims with all-wheel drive. The Sport, Laramie Longhorn and Limited trims have a 5.7-L V8 engine that generates 395 hp and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. In the HFE, there is an EcoDiesel engine, which is a turbocharged 3.0-L diesel V6 with an output of 240 hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque.

2017 RAM 1500 reviews highlight the rise in quality that these engine selections contribute. Regardless of road quality, the 1500 can handle it well, making for a smooth and quiet ride.

RAM 1500s with a gas V6 engine can tow up to 7,610 pounds, while the diesel version can tow up to 9,210 pounds. The V8 can tow up to 10,640 pounds.
