Jeep is having an amazing run this year, and it looks like the brand is showing no signs of slowing down as GM has just reported that the new 2015 Jeep Cherokee is on point to become one of its top-selling autos of 2014.
Debuting back in October 2013, the newly redesigned Jeep Cherokee moved away slightly from its boxier predecessors to a sleeker design that had many Jeep watchers very excited. It looks like the move paid off, as the Cherokee has now sold over 154,000 units in the year since it went on-sale. GM says that number could reach over 170,000 by the end of 2014, which is a solid testament to Jeep's unwavering legacy as a quality SUV that always looks to the future.
"People are blown away with the whole package," Jeep marketing director Jim Morrison said. "What we have at Jeep that nobody else has is the four-wheel-drive capability DNA. If you want a real 4x4 SUV, there's nobody else that can come close. That's what separates us from the competition."
Representing around 10 percent of sales for the midsize SUV and crossover market, the Cherokee is making its way to the top of the segment with numbers that just border entrenched class-leaders like the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
These Jeep Cherokee numbers continue to prove one of the main aspects of the Jeep brand: once you're in a Jeep, you'll stay in a Jeep. Few other automakers have such entrenched brand loyalty built into their cars, with these numbers showcasing Jeep's popularity with drivers, who love the wide-range of custom options that make the Jeep a very individualized SUV.
"What we like about the Jeep brand is once get them into the Jeep brand, we get to keep them forever," Morrison said. "Once you get a little Jeep in their blood, they stick around."
